Monthy Storynight with Daniel Deardorff

Here is a place to keep feeding the story. After each monthly gathering I'll add a discussion of the story we heard by the fire. Also this will be a place to post reminders and date changes if and when they occur. For those of you who regularly attend storynight please join in this group.

July 28 - Kuloscap and the Ice Giants/Kuloscap and Turtle

I was delighted to come across the Kuloscap tales from the Northeastern part of North America.  In these stories Kuloscap, who is a trickster character, helps rid of the Ice Giants who are eating the…

June 30, "Know-not"

Know-not is from the Russian fairy tales and is one of my favorites. It shows a young man of apparent little worth as being secretly of great valor, and a young woman apparently of privilege who exhi…

THanks Brian for another great story. The battles fought are rarely over what we think they are. Grandfather entered easily tonight and kept us warm and glowing while the words danced through the flames of my mind and carried me to the in between, then to be returned by the swirling summer wind wiggling the wing flap door to the now.

Dear Circle,
We are coming up to Storynight next week. This is a note to let you know that although I am traveling there will be a story told by my student Brian Rohr. As usual the fire will start around 6:30 and the story around 7:30. I hope you can make it and know that I will be there in heart and spirit.
Blessings

Hi Danny.
Any word on what is happening this month with Storynight? Some have been asking and I am guessing more will soon. Blessings on your journey and hope you rest well...

Thank you so much for the thought provoking story on the 30th. I lie on the stove of it frequently, despite the busy, chockfullofpeopleandfamily holiday mayhem. the stove carries me! And here to remind you of the magic of fire and water and the heat of bodies sitting snug with concentration in a circle, are two images.
