Welcome To My Living World!

Oh Pilgrim

By Brian Rohr

Oh Pilgrim,
What you are searching for
Is already inside you

But you have to go around and around
To some corner of the world
To scale the Redwoods or Mt. Everest’s face
Or find your name on the cover of a book
Or wrapped in some perfect lover’s arms

Oh Pilgrim,
Find fame where you are.
Better yet, forget about fame,
For no one really ever knows you anyway

Rather,
Go on a journey, a spiritual quest
Don a robe, a headscarf and a staff
Walk 500 miles in the desert or the fields
Get to know yourself
Tonight you might be wrapped in your own arms
And sleep better than you had in 25 years.

Hi Brian, thanks for the comment! It does look like stained glass, but is actually more like stained paper:) It's a papercut (black) and then collage on the back side of the papercut. A Japanese form of papercutting called Kirie. When I get around to it I'll post more or you can check out www.elizabethvanduine.com for more!
Thanks again!

Longing - A Poem for Demeter

This is a poem that I wrote in a few minutes while running late to meet a friend. I saw a poetry contest that wanted a poem about Demeter... Not knowing who she specifically was, I looked up her story and wrote this poem as a response to learning about her being the goddess of harvest and nature, and in her grief over losing Persephone, she became so depressed that all of life came to a stand-still.Continue
