With paper skin
As soft and gentle
As a butterfly wing
And listen close
To murmured words like poetry
Spanning time
Yet vivid as yesterday

Your face is sculpted with a life
Known only to you
And your eyes glisten
Turned inward
As something within you lights up
At some long distant memory
Lapping another shore
Another time
More real to you than this one
Here
Where your frail frame
Is swallowed by pillows and pain
And no-one loves you anymore

Have you heard the sound of silence?
Have you travelled on your breath to the place where your spirit dwells?
Have you followed a piece of exquisite music to the core of your being and found the absolute?
Have you lost your self to find your self?
Sometimes we have to switch off our life and come home to our self. Come back to the silence that dwells within. Be our eternal space; the place of our being. It is only when we pause that we realise how little life can reflect who we truly are. It is only in the space between the moments when thought has ceased to imprison our mind, when we close our eyes on the world we have inhabited, slow our breath and blood and let go of our body. Then, and only then, when we find the calm, do we know who we truly are.
